Former refugee in Iraq returned to Iran and handed himself over to security forces voluntarily. 31 years old 1 Oct 2008: Arrested in Saqez near the border between Iran and Iraq, while returning to Iran from Iraqi Kurdistan. Accused of collaboration with banned political group, Komaleh. Charged with "waging war" (Moharebeh) even though Komaleh is not an armed resistance group. 13 Nov 2009: Amnesty appeal: http://bit.ly/gOwYH5 Sentence under appeal and execution therefore uncertain 27 Apr 2011: Reported on hunger strike 01 May 2011: Death sentence reportedly sent to enforcement 05 Apr 2012: Reported transferred to Saqez prison where he begins a new hunger strike.
